UK To Ban Sales Of Energy Drinks To Kids.

Britain’s government launched a public consultation Thursday over plans to ban the sale of energy drinks to young people, as it grapples with some of Western Europe’s worst child obesity rates. Prime Minister Theresa May wants to prevent retailers from selling popular energy drinks, such as Red Bull, Monster and Relentless, to children because of their high levels of sugar and caffeine. The government estimates more than two-thirds of 10 to 17-year-olds and a quarter of six to 9-year-olds consume the drinks, which are linked to a host of health and behaviour problems, from headaches to hyperactivity. “Childhood obesity is one of the greatest health challenges this country faces,” May said in a statement. “With thousands of young people regularly consuming energy drinks, often because they are sold at cheaper prices than soft drinks, we will consult on banning the sale of energy drinks to children.” The plans were first announced in June, alongside a commitment to halve ...

Nollywood Actress, Uduak Akrah is Dead.

Nollywood actress, Uduak Akrah, has died from complications arising from a slip in the bathroom. According to her colleagues, who confirmed this yesterday on social media, she died at the Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH) following injuries sustained from the fatal bathroom fall. Popular filmmaker, Charles Novia, said: “I just heard from someone close to her and her family in Abuja. She suffered complications from a nasty fall in the bathroom.” The actress who is based in Abuja was said to have been ill from the accident since last Saturday, and was eventually brought to the LUTH where she was pronounced dead on arrival. Deji Shuts Business Activities In Akure.

Commercial activities in Akure, the Ondo State Capital, will on Monday, August 27 be shut down. The lock down is in respect to the directive issued by the Deji of Akure kingdom, Oba Ogunlade Aladetoyinbo to enable the town celebrate an ancient traditional festival known as “Aheregbe”. A statement issued by the monarch’s Chief Press Secretary, Michael Adeyeye, says the closure becomes necessary as part of the age-long tradition in observing the annual Aheregbe Festival. Nigerian superstar singer, David Adeleke, has reacted to viral report that Port Harcort-based artiste, Duncan Mighty on how he battered his wife. The report of Duncan Mighty battering his wife went viral on social media yesterday. The artiste swiftly denied the claim and said it was the handiwork of mischief makers. Duncan Mighty was said to have been assaulting his wife, beating her beyond recognition for a long time now. 11 Muslims Travelling for Eid-el-Kabir Celebration Crushed To Death in Niger.

No fewer than eleven people have been confirmed dead in a road crash along the Yuhuri-Kontagora area of Niger State. The Unit Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps in Kontagora, Mr Abdullahi Umar, confirmed this to newsmen on Wednesday. He said 16 persons were also injured in the accident which took place in the late hours of Monday in Kontagora Local Government Area of the state. According to him, the incident occurred when a Toyota car collided with a commercial bus. Mr Umar blamed the accident on overspeeding and wrongful overtaking. He said the injured victims were promptly rushed to Kontagora General Hospital for medical attention. The victims were said to be travelling from Kontagora to Yauri in Kebbi State for the Eid-el-Kabir celebration. The accident occurred despite several calls by safety officials that motorists should always drive with caution, especially during the festival periods. May God protection be sure upon Us.

What We Will Do To Yinka Ayefele – Gov. Ajimobi.

The Oyo State Governor, Abiola Ajimobi has said it will now pardon Yinka Ayefele because of his appeal and not because he is physically challenged. According to the governor, being physically challenged doesn’t give anyone the right to break the law. He said this while reacting to the backlash he got for demolishing Ayefele’s Music House worth N800m. In an interview with BBC, he said: “Ayefele didn’t obey the law. People are saying he should be pardoned because he is physically challenged. “So, does being physically challenged give one the right to break the law? They said he employed people, but even thieves employ people. Should we say a thief should continue stealing because he employed people? “And we warned him (Ayefele) about the building. Now that he has appealed, we will pardon him, but we must always obey the law.”

The Recipe For Seafood Okro And Fufu.

Ingredients * 10 medium sized prawns * 1 medium sized Tilapia * 5 medium sized crabs(optional) * 10 large Okro * 1/4 serving spoon of palm oil * Ground pepper, as desired * Seasoning, as desired * Salt              RECIPE 1-Wash and dice the Okro. 2-Boil 2-3 cups of water in a medium pot. 3-Add the crabs to the water,add seasoning and salt.Boil for 10-20 minutes. 4-Add the diced Okro,1 serving spoon of palm oil and pepper as desired.Also check for salt and seasoning. 5-Thoroughly clean prawns and tilapia, add to the Okro and allow to cook on low heat for 5-10 minutes.     After this,serve hot and enjoy with your fluffy Fufu.
