The road to the peak has never been a smooth one for many as there is always a story before the fame. In times past, many Nigerian celebrities have shared their stories of poverty before they became rich and famous. From being homeless to selling CD players, rat poison among others, these stories serve as a beacon of hope for fans of a better future ahead. But on the inside of this century-old facility - one of only a half-dozen psychiatric centres in Lagos, and the only one run by the federal government of Nigeria - tensions are running high. At the outpatient clinic, the crowd of people waiting to consult with doctors is so thick that it spills into the hallway. The workload is so overwhelming that Dr Dapo Adegbaju, a psychiatrist rushing to attend to an agitated patient, has slept in the hospital for the past two nights. In the emergency ward, a patient named Jide languishes in a queue where he has been waiting since 7am. It is not yet noon at Yaba hospital, but this is business as usual. Imo Topping List Of 'yahoo Yahoo' In Southeast - EFCC The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Monday disclosed that Imo State has recorded the highest number of cybercrimes in the South-East geo-political Region. The commission also declared that it has convicted over 90 suspects for various financial crimes within the South East this year alone. Regional Commander of the EFCC in the South-East, Usman Iman made the disclosure at the 16th Anti-Corruption Situation Room (ACSR) organized by Human and Environmental Development Agenda, HEDA, in collaboration with McAthur Foundation in Enugu. Iman, who expressed dismay over the increasing rate of cyber crimes in imo State, said the rate of the crime in the state was really disturbing, adding that the unofficial statistics he got about the state was really disturbing. Kano Govt Approves  Death Penalty For Kidnappers.     The Kano State Government has approved death penalty for anyone found guilty of kidnapping across the state. Governor Abdullahi Ganduje gave the order while receiving the nine children who were abducted from Kano and trafficked in Anambra State.       He also inaugurated a commission to be headed by Justice Wada Rano to commence an inquiry into cases of missing persons from 2010 till date. Furthermore, he directed the Ministry of Justice to immediately commence the process of making amendments to laws regarding kidnapping and other child-related abuses. The commission is expected to submit its report to the government in the next 30 days. Meanwhile, the governor has also directed the distribution of one million naira to each of the pupils to cater for their well-being. Three Scientist Share Chemistry Nobel for Developing Lithium-Ion Batteries The 2019 Nobel Prize in Chemistry will be awarded to John D Goodenough, M. Stanley Whittingham and Akira Yoshino for the development of lithium-ion batteries, the Nobel Committee said on Wednesday. Lithium-ion batteries have revolutionised our lives and are used in everything from mobile phones to laptops and electric vehicles. Through their work, this year’s Chemistry Laureates have laid the foundation of a wireless, fossil-fuel-free society, the Nobel Committee said in a statement. At the age of 96, Prof Goodenough is the oldest person ever to win the award. The laureates will share the prize money of nine million kronor (£738,000).
