NYPD confirms Missing 29-Year-Old YouTuber Desmond Amofah, Better Known as Etika,Has Been Found Dead. The New York Police Department tweeted on Tuesday that Desmond Amofah, the YouTuber known by his social-media handle, Etika, has been found dead. He had been missing since Wednesday. Amofah, 29, had amassed a YouTube following of over 130,000 subscribers, along with a Twitter audience of over 327,000 followers. The NYPD had confirmed the YouTuber's disappearance in a tweet on Thursday asking for any information on Amofah's whereabouts. On Saturday, police sources told the New York Post that a bag and a cellphone believed to belong to Amofah were found by the Manhattan Bridge. A Vietnamese environmental activist and blogger has been sentenced to six years in prison under the country's new law that cracks down on online dissent. Nguyen Ngoc Anh, a 39-year old shrimp farmer from the southern town of Binh Dai, was arrested and tried for what state media described as "making, storing, releasing, and circulating information and documents against the state." He was sentenced to six years in prison Thursday by the People's Court of Ben Tre province, followed by five years under house arrest, according to the state-run Vietnam News Agency (VNA). This vulnerability has already been used by an Israeli intelligence company to inject spyware on to phones. The vulnerability exists on both iPhones and Android phones. WhatsApp claims to have a patch ready, Duta recommends that all users install them as soon as they are available. The malicious code, developed by the secretive Israeli company NSO Group, could be transmitted even if users did not answer their phones, and the calls often disappeared from call logs. WhatsApp is too early into its own investigations of the vulnerability to estimate how many phones were targeted using this method, a person familiar with the issue said.

Philippines Earthquake: Eight Deaths Reported on Luzon. A 6.4-magnitude tremor struck the southern Philippines on Tuesday, US geologists said, just a day after a deadly quake that rocked the country’s north. The US Geological Survey said the earthquake hit near Tutubigan, which is hundreds of kilometres south of the quake that hit near Manila. The magnitude 6.1 tremor hit at 17:11 local time (09:11 GMT) on Monday killing at least 11 people. An airport was seriously damaged and at least two buildings were destroyed. Authorities fear dozens of people remain trapped underneath a collapsed building in the province of Pampanga, north-west of the capital Manila. The province is believed to be the worst-hit area. Its governor, Lilia Pineda, told Reuters news agency that 20 people had been injured there.
