Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike has declared on Wednesday that he will not be vying for the position of Vice President of the country as being speculated in certain quarters ahead of the 2019 elections. He went on to say that he is not interested in becoming the vice-president of the country. Wike further reiterated this position during an interview with The Osasu Show at government house, Port Harcourt on Thursday. He was asked to reply to reports that he is plotting to emerge running mate to whoever emerges presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). One Dead, 17 Kidnapped in Latest Eastern Congo Raid.

Reports say one person has been killed while 17 other kidnapped in eastern Democratic Republic of Congo late Monday, in a raid blamed on a notorious Ugandan militia accused of a massacre in a regional city two days earlier. It was gathered that the new attack took place in the town of Oicha, around 30 kilometres (18 miles) south of Beni, where 21 people were killed on Saturday by men wielding machetes and firing guns. The authorities are blaming both attacks on the Allied Democratic Forces, a militia rooted in Ugandan Islamism that has killed hundreds of people in North Kivu province since 2014. According to AFP's account of interview with a local administrator,Donat Kibwana, four houses were also burned down with chickens and goats taken away. “The situation in Oicha is paralysed,” Kibwana said, explaining that most shops and schools were closed. The provinces of North and South Kivu lie in a border region that has been prey to war and lower-level conflict since 1994.

An India Man is Caught Having Sex with a Minor Street Kid.

An Indian man was last night apprehended by vigilant members of the public when he was caught having sex with a street kid in his car in Lusaka area in Zambia. The unnamed Indian man is reported to have enticed the girl with a pack of a meal and drove her to the nearest corner where he had exploring sex with her. But some people that noticed a jerking car approached and found the Indian on top of the street kid sweating and panting. After he was forced out of the car, the street girl narrated the ordeal and explained how hungry she was until he picked her up after being given some left over chicken from Big Bite eatery. The Indian has since been locked up at Kabwata Police Station and is expected to be charged for defilement, rape and obtaining pecuniary advantage of a minor.

Croatian and Madrid star Modric bags Fifa Best Player Award.

Croatian and Real Madrid star midfielder was on Monday night named Best FIFA Men’s Player of the Year for 2018, while Orlando Pride’s Brazil forward Marta won the women’s award. Modric won the Champions League with Real and then played a major role in Croatia’s run to the World Cup final where they were beaten by France. The married governor who was arrested following weeks of public anger after the body of Sharon Otieno, 26, was found in a forest pleaded not guilty to the charge. According to Kenya's Standard newspaper, a post-mortem revealed Ms Otieno had been raped, and stabbed eight times in the neck, abdomen and back. She lost her unborn child during the attack. The Minister of Communications, Adebayo Shittu, failed to participate in the mandatory National Youth Service Scheme (NYSC), despite graduating from the then University of Ife (now Obafemi Awolowo University) at age 25, Premium Times report. The revelation about Shittu, who is currently in the race to become Oyo State governor, comes a week after Kemi Adeosun was compelled to step down from her post as Finance Minister, after allegations that she skipped the compulsory national service and then procured a fake exemption certificate. Months of discreet checks at the NYSC headquarters showed that Shittu did not present himself for service after graduation and is yet to do so till date.
